Langston Golf Course
Lee has teamed up with National Links Trust (NLT) to create artwork for their three historic golf courses in Washington, D.C.. NLT is a 501(c)(3) non-profit dedicated to protecting and promoting accessible, affordable and engaging municipal golf courses to positively impact local communities across the U.S.
Langston Golf Course opened in 1939 as a place for Black golfers to play during the age of segregation. Built on the banks of the Anacostia River, the course is home to a rich history and tradition of Black golf. It is home to the oldest Black men’s and women’s golf clubs, Royal Golf Club and Wake-Robin Golf Club, and has played host to the legends of Black golf in America including Lee Elder, who managed the course in the late 1970’s.
