I have been a professional artist since graduating from college and have been making pictures for as long as I can remember. I lived in comic books as a kid and my first drawings were of most boys’ heroes – Spiderman, Batman, Captain America. As I grew older, my subjects shifted with my interests and I began to draw sports stars and musicians. I’m not sure how many pictures I did of the Beatles but eventually I could draw John Lennon from memory.
At 18, after years of doing it for fun, I eventually decided to pursue art at Syracuse University. I survived the typical missteps of art school and graduated determined to make a living by making images. My first years as a professional artist consisted mainly of architectural drawings of private homes and institutions on Philadelphia’s Main Line. Eventually, we showed this portfolio to golf and country clubs which led to my first project in golf, a pen & ink portrait of Winged Foot’s famous Clifford Wendehack clubhouse. This work in turn led me to create drawings and paintings for some of the best clubs in the Northeast, including Saucon Valley CC, The National Golf Links of America, Ridgewood CC and Caves Valley GC.
Within a a year I had started to play and read allI could about the game and I became hooked. Soon after, I created my first event poster for the 2001 Senior PGA, rebranded the 100 year old Atlantic City CC, and began working with the USGA, designing the official logos for the U.S. Open. Fortunately for me, golf has a rich tradition of literature and art and I was uniquely positioned to contribute to this heritage. Our studio now works with the greatest organizations and venues in the game, creating bold and timeless imagery for an enthusiastic audience that continues to grow each year. My original paintings hang on the walls of many great clubs and tour players, from Justin Rose to Rory McIlroy to Jordan Spieth, and my championship posters have found happy homes all around the world. Over the last year, we have expanded our portfolio and have added the NBA, Keeneland and The Miami Open Tennis as clients.
